Floral Design Apprentice
Job Description
The Floral Design Apprentice program at the Cass School of Floral Design offers recent graduates of our Professional Florist Training Program a unique, hands-on opportunity to grow into confident, professional floral designers.
Over the course of one year, apprentices will work alongside experienced florists and instructors in both our flower shop and design school settings—deepening their technical skills, creative range, and professional experience.
By the end of the apprenticeship, participants will be well prepared to:
- Work as a full-fledged florist in a retail or studio setting
- Launch a freelance floral design business specializing in weddings and event
- Teach floral design classes at Cass
Key Responsibilities
Throughout the year, apprentices will gain experience across all areas of floral operations, including:
- Flower Conditioning: Cutting, bunching, and caring for flowers and foliage
- Floral Design Practice: Designing arrangements for all types of orders, from small daily pieces to sympathy designs
- School Support: Assisting with classes, curriculum development, and digital resource creation
- Marketing & Content Creation: Contributing to social media marketing and video content for Cass’s online platforms
- Operations: Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining supplies and workspace

Delivery: Assisting with occasional floral deliveries as needed
Qualifications
- Graduate of Cass’s Professional Florist Training Program (required)
- Strong foundational design skills and enthusiasm for continued learning
- Reliable, organized, and self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable with physical tasks and able to lift heavy items
- Interest in floral education, event design, or entrepreneurship a plus
- Valid US driver's license
Time Commitment & Compensation
- The Apprentice program lasts for 1 year
- Apprentices work for 20 hours per week minimum
- Hours typically align with our class calendar
- Hours include evening and weekend classes
- The wage is $20 per hour
