About us
At the Cass School of Floral Design, we believe floral design is more than just arranging flowers — it’s a creative practice that can transform lives, connect communities, and build a more beautiful, sustainable world.
Whether you're pursuing a career or simply exploring your passion, Cass is where it all begins.
Our Mission
We believe every community should experience the joy and wellness benefits of floral design. Science shows what we already know in our hearts: spending time with flowers boosts mental health, lowers stress, and sparks creativity.
At Cass, we create welcoming spaces where people connect — with each other, with nature, and with themselves — all through the art of flowers. From our studio in Watertown, MA, to the many communities our alumni serve around the world, we’re committed to spreading the joy of flowers, one stem at a time.
Our Values
Accessibility
Floral design is for everyone — all ages, all backgrounds, no experience necessary. Whether you’re brand-new to the craft or ready to launch a floral career, you belong here.
Community
We believe in the power of gathering. Our in-person classes are designed to spark connection, laughter, and lasting friendships — because flowers are even better when shared.
Sustainability
We’re committed to sustainable floristry practices that honor the planet. From foam-free design methods to local flower sourcing, we teach with the future in mind.
Our Story
The Cass School of Floral Design was founded in 1979 by Faith Cass, a floral design powerhouse with deep roots in the industry. Born into a family of florists, Faith quickly made her mark on the international stage, winning both the America’s Cup and the AIFD International competitions early in her career.
Over the next four decades, Faith traveled the world sharing her passion for flowers. In Japan, she taught and studied Ikebana; in Taiwan, she co-founded a sister school. Her journeys took her to dozens of countries, gathering design insight and cultural wisdom she would bring home to Massachusetts again and again.
Cass has trained thousands of professional floral designers — many of whom now own successful shops, design for major events, and lead the industry forward. Along the way, Cass has had the honor of serving notable clients such as The White House and Harvard University, and was a longtime exhibitor at the New England Spring Flower Show, where Cass earned top awards year after year.
Faith Cass also holds the distinction of having created the very first Art in Bloom exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, launching a beloved tradition that continues to inspire generations of floral artists.
Through it all, Faith’s mission has remained the same: to share the power, beauty, and joy of flowers with as many people as possible. Today, the Cass School continues to inspire the next generation of designers — rooted in tradition, growing toward the future.
